    Edit

The Members of Youth Parliment (MYPs) Manifesto clearly defines the priority areas of work.

Each year, newly elected MYPs identify 3 (sometimes 4) top priorities following consultation with young people around the county and review of the priority issues identified within elected Members Candidates Addresses.

  • Transport

    Edit

Many young people within Gloucestershire have identified that bus services are in need of development. We are aiming to set a single age for an adult fare, as we believe that anyone under the age of 18 shouldn’t be charged as an adult. Following on from this, we are working towards increasing services in rural areas.

  • Positive Activities

    Edit

We believe that young people should be able to have fun, enjoy a variety of activities and promote a healthy lifestyle. We will aim to increase information available to young people about positive activities. We are aspiring to hold an event for youth forums and councils to attend, enabling young people to share ideas, engage with decision makers and develop new skills.

  • Youth Forum Links

    Edit

Across the county there are groups of young people actively participating in district / borough youth forums and councils. This page provides information or links to their work. The MYPs work as closely as possible with all of these forums and actively listen to their voices and opinions to influence their priorities.

  • Road Safety

    Edit

Numerous youth councils across the county have highlighted road safety as being a major issue affecting young people. We are aiming to promote road safety awareness and education by reviewing the current measures in place and seeing what improvements can be made.

  • Anti-Bullying

    Edit

Gloucestershire believes that all young people are affected by bullying. We believe that every young people’s organisation and establishment should have an anti-bullying policy, and will be working with them to raise awareness, help and provide support for all young people on both sides of the bullying situations.
