The main purpose of the Youth Opportunity / Capital Fund is to enable young people to apply for funding and to fulfil the role of decision makers whilst assessing the applications submitted from across the county.

Gloucestershire operate the fund centrally via the Youth Support Services and have six district assessment panels who assess Youth Opportunity Funding and one countywide panel who assesses all Youth Opportunity Fund applications from countywide groups and assesses all of the Youth Capital Funding. The countywide panel is made up of young people from countywide organisations and representatives from the district panels.

Most importantly, the Youth Opportunity / Capital Fund is money for young people, by young people!
