UKYPglos 2008 Elections Results Event
A big Thank You to all of you who attended the Results Event for the 2008 UKYPglos Elections at Shire Hall last night and helped make it the special event that it was. In particular, a extra big Thank You to all the candidates who put themselves forward to represent young people in Gloucestershire, and to the now retired MYPs for hosting such a successful evening. I hope you enjoyed the evening as much as I did.
For those of you who were not able to hear the results first hand, the results are as follows.

David Ballard has stepped down as a candidate for Cheltenham and Tewkesbury area. Votes for David Ballard will no longer count, so please vote for one of the other 5 candidates.

NAME: RUPERT BAILEY
As your representative for the UK Youth Parliament, I want to have the chance to stand up, to make a difference for the young people of Gloucestershire, to let our voice be heard.
I feel I’m the right kind of guy for the position with experience as Student Governor and on House and School Councils at my school.

NAME: GEMMA GINGELL
I’m committed and put my all into everything I do. I’ve been fortunate to have raised issues concerning young people before.
I wish to become an MYP as I want to make a difference to young people. Making sure everyone gets their voice heard!
I’ll represent my area ensuring everyone can voice their opinion and acting upon it! I’ll also make sure I listen to everyone delivering a fair representation.

NAME: MAISIE CLIFFORD
I work at the Youth Centre as Tuckbar Manager and also enjoy participating in youth projects/activities.
I’m a member of a Volunteer Group, helping in the community and I’m on my school council.
I would like to be an MYP because I believe young people need to be heard. Through my experience of having a voice I feel I can help other young people achieve this.
I will represent other young people in my area.

ELECTIONS 2008 - Candidate Workshops in November 07
Are you interested in being a Member of Youth Parliament in 2008?
If yes, and you would like to find out more about UK Youth Parliament, and what being an MYP is all about, then come along to a CANDIDATE WORKSHOP!
There are 3 workshops, each giving a unique opportunity for you to:
- Find out more about UK Youth Parliament, both nationally and in Gloucestershire
- Talk to a couple of the current MYPs
- Get a candidates pack
- Receive help on how to write a 'candidate address' and to encourage people to vote for you
The workshops are 10.30 - 12.30 on Saturday mornings.
