With the announcements of the Governments Spending Review in October and the implications of this for Gloucestershire over the coming months we have decided to postpone the Elections 11 process. Elections will be held during 2011-12 and dates will be announced as soon as appropriate.
The work of the Members of Youth Parliament for Gloucestershire is valued throughout the county by MPs, Councillors, a wide range of organisations and of course young people and although the elections process is postponed, the commitment to Members of Youth Parliament within the county continues.
Until such time that the elections process runs, we have asked some of the current Members of Youth Parliament to continue as it is also necessary at this time to reduce the group to MYPs only (therefore no deputy MYPs). Once discussions with the current MYPs have concluded we will confirm the names of those MYPs who will continue from February 2011 as the Members of Youth Parliament for Gloucestershire.
We would like to pass on thanks to those who have already committed to coordinating a Polling Station and to those young people who have already expressed interest in standing as a Candidate. Although it is not possible to go ahead with the elections process at this current time, we very much hope that you will continue to support and engage with this process in the future and obviously continue to engage with the work of the Members of Youth Parliament currently elected.
