MYPs Sign Service Level Agreement (SLA) with Police Authority

A need has been identified by the Police Authority Engagement Worker to work with a representative group of young people to review, advise and monitor work relating to the Hear By Right (HBR) Standards. As elected members, reaching over 10,000 voting young people Members of Youth Parliament (MYP’s) are ideally suited to this role.

The aims of the Service Level Agreement (SLA) are to:

  • Include young people in decisions that effect them, support the Police Authority in including young people in this process.
  • Review current structures recognising good practice and advise on areas where more attention is required.
  • Support MYP’s in achieving their aspirations from year to year where appropriate.
  • Form and sustain professional relationships between both parties for the benefit of Young People in Gloucestershire.

The Service Level Agreement (SLA) will create the following opportunities:

  • Include MYPs in the design, delivery and evaluation of specific events where appropriate and time is made available.
  • To review and evaluate work undertaken against a specific performance indicator.
  • Annually evaluate current service provision and set new focus areas for the coming year based on HBR performance indicators.
  • Police Engagement Worker to support MYP’s where appropriate working toward their identified priorities.

The Service Level Agreement between the MYP's and the Police Authority will work by:

  • Police Engagement Worker to work with MYP’s when time permits and as required in a supporting role.
  • Police Engagement Worker to provide Hoodies and Polo shirts at the beginning of each elected term.
  • MYP’s to attend 3 meetings per year with a focus on advise, review and evaluate. These meeting may take place in a venue most suited to the session.
  • MYP’s to support the active involvement of young people where appropriate.

Results of meetings will be feedback to the Police Authority via Police Community Engagement (PCE) meetings delivered by Police Engagement Worker.

Evaluation of the process will takes place at the end of each MYP’s elected term. This process will include evaluation of what has been achieved, personal development, organisational development and value for money.
